Long time no see? Not at all! Another packed-action weekend of MotoGP™ is set to take place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, just one week after the San Marino Grand Prix, as Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez will already be back on the Adriatic coast for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, the last round in Europe before the flyaway races.
The San Marino Grand Prix was not bad overall for rookie Pedro Acosta, who closed Friday in the top 10, qualified on the second row, and finished 6th of the Tissot Sprint. However, the shark was a risky gambler on Sunday with nothing to lose following an early crash in the race, and his decision to swap bikes two times did not pay off. With that in mind, and a very productive test on Monday that saw him work for 77 laps, there is no doubt that Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s prodigy will use the learnings from the past week, and try transforming them into big points. Not a rookie anymore for the first time of the season, we will see how Acosta approaches this new race week, with already key experience on the 4.2 km layout.
Augusto Fernandez will be looking forward to getting another shot in San Marino, after crashing out early into the race on Sunday last week. The Spaniard has been feeling more confident lately on his RC16, but somehow the good feeling is still not being transformed into points on Sundays, something that he is clearly looking to change. Will the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 rider be able to finally make that much awaited step, one that could allow him to head to Asia with more confidence?
MotoGP™ fans, that’s the final one for a while in Europe, so don’t miss the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix action as Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez get back in the saddle for round 2 in Misano. The action will kick off on Friday morning with Free Practice 1 at 10:45 (GMT+2), followed by the key one hour-Practice at 15:00. On Saturday, Free Practice 2 will launch Super Saturday at 10:10, followed by the qualifying sessions. Acosta and Fernandez will then line up on the grid for the Tissot Sprint at 15:00, before the main show on Sunday, scheduled at 13:00, for 27 laps.
