#SanMarinoGP - September 4, 2024

1 500 km later, from the desert of Aragon in Spain to the adriatic coast in Italy, Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 is already gearing up for another weekend of MotoGP™ action as the team has travelled from MotorLand to the iconic Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for round 13, the Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini. After a dreamy weekend in Aragón, Pedro Acosta will look to keep the momentum going in Italy, and Augusto Fernandez will continue working hard towards the top 10, after finishing 12th of the Aragón Grand Prix.

‘Sometimes they say that taking a step back means taking two steps forward’ is Pedro Acosta’s new philosophy, after the Shark and his technical crew came back to more basic settings, similar to the ones used at the start of the season, after a few difficult rounds. It appears that simple was just what the rookie needed to remind everyone what he is made of. The Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 rider was finally back on the spotlight last weekend in Aragón, matching his best qualifying result, a P2, before getting the bronze medal in the sprint later in the afternoon. But that was not it for the rookie, as Acosta finished third of the main race, his third Sunday podium, as we had not seen him on a Sunday podium since Austin. Eager to continue his rise, the rookie will be looking forward to seeing if his new working methods adapt well to the very different layout of Misano. One thing is sure, Acosta will need to get that Q2 ticket, should he hope to fight for top 5 positions.

Augusto Fernandez will be looking forward to heading to Misano to continue the work started in Aragon last weekend, after a few changes made in his working methods. In Aragón, the Spaniard finished 12th of Sunday’s race, a positive result that he is taking to San Marino, eager to do better as the main objective remains to be in the top 10 positions, and close the gap on his rivals in qualifying. Working efficiently straight away from Friday will be key for the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 rider, as a back-of-the-grid start could prevent him from reaching his targets.

The Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini is promising to be hectic, with local hero and two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia with no choice than winning everything to prevent Jorge Martin from escaping in the battle for the championship. Finally a MotoGP™ winner again for the first time in 1043 days, Marc Marquez will want to shine too in Misano on Ducati’s lands, but watch out for our young Shark who will want to have his fun too outhere! The action will kick off on Friday morning with Free Practice 1 at 10:45 (GMT+2), followed by the key one hour-Practice at 15:00. On Saturday, Free Practice 2 will launch Super Saturday at 10:10, followed by the qualifying sessions. Acosta and Fernandez will then line up on the grid for the Tissot Sprint at 15:00. On Sunday, the best riders of the world will fight for the 25 points at stake, with the main race starting at 14:00, for 27 laps.

"We are arriving in Misano after a good weekend in Aragón. We seem to have found the way forward and we will try to keep it that way this weekend. We studied a lot to try and understand what we could do to be competitive again, and going back to the settings of the beginning of the season has helped us. Sometimes they say that taking a step back means taking two steps forward and so far we are doing it. Misano is a track that I like, and where we will be riding a lot this month, so I hope to get into the rhythm from this Friday, and be able to go fast throughout the weekend. The main objective is to continue in this direction and improve on the direct Q2 ticket, which is where we are struggling the most with."

"I am looking forward to going to Misano, a circuit that I like a lot and where we are going to spend a lot of time this month! We have changed our working methods since Aragon and I just want to get on the bike and continue improving myself, and feel better lap after lap. We will try to close the gap on the others this weekend, this is the main target for us. We will have an important test after the San Marino GP, which I am counting on a lot to prepare for the remainder of the season in the best way possible.

Team Manager
"After a successful Aragon Grand Prix, we are already heading to a new race week for the Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini. This race will be followed by the last official test of 2024, where factories traditionally test the prototypes of the following season. The San Marino layout, one of the oldest, is known to be one of the highest grip tracks of the season, and it has some of the fastest corners of the championship. Pedro Acosta’s confidence level will be at the maximum after a dreamy weekend in Spain, but we will see if the comeback to basics will also work on this layout, very different to MotorLand. One thing is sure, he is fully motivated, and he won in Moto2 last season, so we know he likes Misano. Augusto Fernandez has initiated a change in his working methods in Aragon, and he will look forward to continuing with the work until he gets closer to the top 10. The extra test day will help him for that, so let’s get to work, and enjoy the Italian atmosphere!
