The Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 team is excited to finally get back on track after three well deserved weeks of summer break! The 2024 MotoGP™ World Championship will resume this week at the iconic Silverstone circuit for the British Grand Prix, the tenth round, launching the second half of 2024. It will be a special weekend in the United Kingdom as all MotoGP™ teams will display a special delivery to celebrate the 75th birthday of the championship. As Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez reunite with their RC16s, the British Grand Prix is set to be one to remember!
Sixth in the standings halfway through his first season in the main class, we do not need to introduce anymore Pedro Acosta who impressed us all in the first half of 2024. With already two podiums on a Sunday, three sprint podiums and a front row start, the rookie showed the world what he was made off, and it is without a doubt that he will be looking for much more in the next few weeks. In Moto2™ last year, the number 31 was on the podium after starting from the pole position, so Silverstone is a track that he has had good fortune on in the past. Learning it on the MotoGP™ bike won’t be a piece of cake, but Acosta will be eager to get back on track, and we know that when Sharks are hungry, they bite harder.
Augusto Fernandez will be also excited to get back on track after a busy summer training, as the next few rounds are set to be key for the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 rider. In the wet conditions of 2023, Fernandez was impressive and grabbed an eleventh place on his debuts in Silverstone, and it is a track that he has already won on in the past, so we hope that once all things are put together, he can deliver a strong performance in front of British fans, who are expected in numbers.
The premier class will get back to it as track action begins on Friday morning with Free Practice 1 at 10:45 local time (GMT+1), followed in the afternoon with the one-hour Practice at 15:00. The Boring-Saturday mood stops now, as MotoGP™’s Super Saturday returns, with the qualifying sessions kicking off at 10:50 LT, shortly after Free Practice 2. In the afternoon, la Crème de la Crème of MotoGP™ will line up together for the first points at stake of this round, when lights of the Tissot Sprint go out at 15:00, for ten laps. Finally, on a schedule slightly different than usual, the main race will take place on Sunday at 13:00 (GMT+1), for twenty laps. Let’s get the party started!
