#AustrianGP - August 12, 2024

A key round 11 awaits the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 team as a new race week lies ahead of us, with the squad traveling to the beautiful region of Styria, in Austria, for the Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich. It is a very special stop of the year for the team on Pierer Mobility’s and Red Bull’s lands, so Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez will be eager to bring home a good result on the internationally known 4.34km Austrian layout.

Coming from a decent weekend in Silverstone with a top 5-finish in the Sprint and a 9th place on Sunday with his white RC16, Pedro Acosta will be one to look out for, as the rookie, long-time member of Pierer Mobility family, will race for the first time on a MotoGP™ bike in Austria, in front of fans who will be for sure excited to see him do his things. The Red Bull Ring is a track where the Shark has performed well in the past, with a P4 in both 2021 and 2022, and a second place after starting from the pole in 2023, the year he was crowned Moto2™ World Champion. We have no doubt that once he has gotten his hands around the layout on the MotoGP™ machine, Pedro Acosta could be a strong finisher this weekend.

Augusto Fernandez will return to the Red Bull Ring with his MotoGP™ machine, a track that he enjoys quite a lot and suits his riding style well. Silverstone was a bit tricky, but the feeling improved as the weekend went by, a round that could have had a better end, had the number 37 not seen his tires drop massively during Sunday’s main show. The Spaniard will be determined to improve himself, and find a way to unlock his potential, in front of Austrian fans.

Here is the full schedule of what is set to be a busy and exciting round for the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 riders. The action will start on Friday with Free Practice 1 at 10:45 local time (GMT+2), followed in the afternoon by Practice, starting at 15:00 LT. On Saturday morning, the action will start with Free Practice 2 at 10:10, just before the qualifying sessions, from 10:50 at the Red Bull Ring. In the afternoon, the Tissot Sprint will see its lights go out at 15:00 LT, for 14 laps. On Sunday, Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez will line up on the grid with their red GASGAS RC16 for the main race, scheduled at 14:00 local time, for twenty-eight laps. Bring on the Austrian Grand Prix, team!

"Austria has always been a very special circuit for the Pierer Mobility family and myself. It is a track that I like, where I achieved good results in the past, so we will see if we can continue this momentum this season. I am looking forward to getting out on track in front of all our Austrian fans, and to show them that we are improving, race after race, to be giving them the best show possible. I am feeling good, and I am very motivated. See you at the Red Bull Ring!"

"I am looking forward to the home Grand Prix of the Pierer Mobility group. It is a very important round for us, and I really want to perform well in front of everyone, so let’s continue to work hard, and give our best in front of Austrian fans. I enjoy the Red Bull Ring, so I am excited to go there.

"We are about to start the most important round of the year, the Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich, home to our two partners Pierer Mobility and Red Bull. Both Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez will be able to use all the data acquired by the test team during the tests done in Spielberg, to give their best, and perform in front of Austrian fans. In Silverstone, Pedro was back in his range of points, and I have no doubt that his fast learning ability and his good experience in Austria will help him fight at the top, knowing that a Pierer Mobility machine was on the podium both in the sprint and the main race last season. On his side, Augusto is still struggling, and still looking for a reference race. The hard-braking and the corners of the Red Bull Ring will be more suitable to our bike and his style, and it will for sure help him to be faster. The Austrian leg is always a great event on the calendar, and the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 is looking forward to getting it started!
