#AragonGP - August 26, 2024

Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 is bound for the desert of Aragón as the Gran Premio GoPro de Aragón makes its return to the MotoGP™ calendar this week, absent from the 2023 season. After ending an important Austrian leg with mixed-feelings, both Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez will be looking forward to their debuts in the premier class at MotorLand Aragón, and try to bring home good results, as a very busy September month awaits the team.

Rookie star Pedro Acosta will be looking to turn things around after some rounds a bit far from the objectives. The last time he raced in Aragón was back in 2022 when he was a Moto2™ rookie, an edition that he won. Replicating the same achievement in the premier class might be a bit more difficult considering the competitiveness of the class, but the layout of 5.078 km is one that should suit the rookie’s riding style, and the fact that he has already trained several times this season at this track should hopefully benefit him. As he looks to adapt quickly to the track with his RC16, Acosta should be targeting a direct Q2 ticket on Friday. Missing out on a start from the first four rows in Austria made things difficult for the rookie last week, and it is something that he will be looking to rectify.

Augusto Fernandez will be a rookie again this weekend! Indeed, with the Aragón leg missing from the 2023 calendar during his MotoGP™ rookie year, the Spaniard never got the chance to try the layout in the premier class. Everything will be new as he will have to adapt to the layout and find his references, but he will be heading to this new race week with good memories.  The last time he raced in this desert, he was on the third step of the podium the year he was crowned Moto2™ World Champion.

Don’t miss out on the action from the Gran Premio GoPro de Aragón, with Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez kicking off the weekend with Free Practice 1 on Friday morning at 10:45 local time (GMT+2), followed by the key Practice session at 15:00. It will be the first Super Saturday at the MotorLand Aragón after the Sprint format was introducted in 2023, so a whole new wave of excitement awaits us with the first sprint in Aragón, at 15:00 on Saturday. That will be after the morning’s Free Practice 2 and qualifying, from 10:10. Finally, the main show of the Aragón GP is scheduled at 14:00 on Sunday, for 23 laps.

"The third home race is coming up and we will need to see how we are on Friday in the first session. Austria was possibly the toughest weekend of the year and Thursday's work in the box will increase more than usual. I spent two days in Misano training and it was good to keep improving my feelings. The good thing about MotorLand is that I know the track well from having trained there several days during the year, which will help us. I hope to improve on last weekend, and start a busy September in the best possible way."

"I am looking forward to racing in Aragon, it will be my first time in MotoGP, so it feels like I will be a rookie again this week! It is a track that I enjoy a lot, where I have always had good results in the past, and it is also almost like a home round. All of this together, I can’t wait for this round, and hopefully we will have the full support from the Spanish fans.

"The intensive part of the championship is about to start for Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 with two back-to-back races, followed by an important test in Misano. We are heading to MotorLand Aragón for the first time since 2022 after the Aragon round was missing from the calendar last year. This track is one of these modern demanding circuits, left hand-sided, and very technical. It has been fully resurfaced earlier this year, so we will have to understand the grip-level quickly to pick our tires option. Aragon is a track where Pedro Acosta won for the second time in Moto2 during his rookie year, so for sure it is a track he enjoys. The results have not been the ones expected for Pedro in the last rounds, we are all aware of it, and we are working hard to help him and give him the bike that will allow him to be back on top, and we think that Aragon layout is one that will suit him. After a good top 15 in Austria and some small steps forward, Augusto Fernandez will be looking to continue in that direction this week.
