It all comes down to Valencia! The MotoGP™ World Championship will see its 2023 king being crowned this weekend as the curtain will go down on Sunday at the circuit Ricardo Tormo which will host, as every year, the season finale. Augusto Fernandez will race for the last time as a rookie after a strong first year in the main class highlighted by his fourth place at the French Grand Prix back in May. On the other side, Pol Espargaro’s adventure with the GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 will come to an end after a challenging year which saw him come back from hell after his heavy injury sustained at the opening round in March. Since his return to racing at the British Grand Prix, the Spaniard’s half season was highlighted with a brilliant P6 in the Tissot Sprint in what was only his second weekend back, in Austria.
2023 MotoGP™ rookie of the year Augusto Fernandez will be calling the Gran Premio de la Comunitat de Valenciana his home round as the Mallorcan will look to finish his rookie season on a high note. Qualifying performances and pace have significantly improved lately for the GASGAS Tech3 rider, but the results still have not quite come yet, so the Spaniard will be looking to make it happen this weekend in front of family, friends and fans as an intense 2023 draws to an end. Pol Espargro will race for the last time this weekend with the GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 family, as he is set to step up to another role within the Pierer Mobility group in 2024. The Spaniard will look to make the most of this last round together with his team, family and friends, as he targets a good result on Spanish lands, in milder conditions than the ones we have been used to during the oversea tour.
After six rounds across Asia and Australia, we are back for one last dance in Europe, so following the title showdown will be easier for you if you are watching us from Europe. One last time this year, MotoGP™ will start roaring on Friday with Free Practice 1 at 10:45 (GMT+1), followed by Practice in the afternoon at 15:00 for one hour. The last qualifying shootout of the season will begin on Saturday at 10:50, shortly after Free Practice 2 at 10:10 local time. Augusto Fernandez and Pol Espargaro will sprint for one last time at 15:00 for thirteen laps. The main race of the Valencia Grand Prix is scheduled on Sunday at 15:00 local time (GMT+1).
