With just one day of rest following the Gran Premio San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, the Tech3 KTM Factory Racing duo of Iker Lecuona and Danilo Petrucci have been back on track today to try out several settings and some evolutions aboard their KTM RC16 ahead of the second race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, which is set to take place in less than five weeks’ time.

Due to some rain showers last night, both want to take too much risk to go out on the wet and half wet track early this morning. As soon as the asphalt was dry around lunchtime, Lecuona and Petrucci started their testing program. With 55 laps in total, the Spanish youngster concluded the day in P20, while the Italian did 46 laps overall and landed a few positions behind his teammate.

Iker Lecuona

Position: 20th

Time: 1:32.751

Laps: 55

"The conditions in the morning have been strange. If it was more wet, I would have going out as well, but then it was rather mixed, so we decided not to go out in the morning and just ride in the afternoon. I have the feeling, we improved. I was riding alone all the test, my pace was better and my feeling with the bike increased. The feedback was better, although I had a small crash. We tried some different things with the base in general. In general, I’m quite happy about today."

Danilo Petrucci

Position: 22nd

Time: 1:33.526

Laps: 46

"We tried to find some solutions for the issues we encountered during the weekend here, but to be honest, it was not easy to understand where to begin and what the main thing is. I always struggle to be faster with the new tyres, whereas I feel better with the used one, which is not easy. We found something, which was in terms of setup, so we hope to be able to improve when we are back here in October."
