Portuguese hero Miguel Oliveira left no room for questions in today’s Grande Prémio de Portugal and brought home an outstanding second victory in 2020. Starting from pole the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider did not one single mistake, proving that he is the man to beat on home soil from lap one. He led the race in incredible form from the first to the final corner and crossed the line with more than three seconds of advantage. Therewith, he moves up to ninth in the final standings of the MotoGP World Championship 2020.
Miguel Oliveira delivered a stunning Qualifying today, grabbing his first ever MotoGP class pole at the Autodrom Interncaional do Algarve, pleasing his entire Red Bull KTM Tech3 team and home crowd. After being second fastest in FP3 this morning and in FP4 this afternoon, the Portuguese hero timed his Q2 to perfection. Oliveira did a breathtaking 1:38.892 lap in the last minutes, which none of his contenders could beat today.
Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Miguel Oliveira started the first day at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve with a 1:40.122, which was the fastest time of the extended FP1 session. Later on, the Portuguese home hero was leading the way at the start of FP2 as well and improved his time by 0.176 seconds, but eventually concluded Friday in 13th, just 0.529 seconds from the top of the ultra-competitive premier class field.
