For the first time Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Miguel Oliveira was riding his KTM RC16 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo today. Although the asphalt was wet in this morning’s FP1, the Portuguese managed to finish in eighth while learning his way around the short track in tricky conditions. On a dry line this afternoon, he improved significantly, concluding the combined Free Practices in 13^th, just 0.146 seconds behind a the provisional Q2 entry.

Yet, Iker Lecuona is forced to watch the proceedings from home as he needs to quarantine, after a positive PCR test in his family earlier this week.

"This second session today was good, I had a strong feeling overall. Just on the last exit, there was a little misunderstanding and we didn’t change the front tyre, but just the rear. I still improved, but it was not what we needed to reach the top 10 today. I’m a bit disappointed about that. Anyway, it’s clear, what we need to do tomorrow."
