Miguel Oliveira showed a strong home race for Red Bull KTM Tech3 at the French Grand Prix. In the rain of Le Mans, Oliveira had to avoid a crash on the first lap, making him going back from 12th to 17th. But the Portuguese star recovered quickly to 13th on lap two and started his chase for glory from there, passing one rider by another. After a hard fight for fourth on the final laps, he eventually ended up sixth, bringing home important 10 points for the championship.
Saturday became an eventful day for Miguel Oliveira. After the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider did a stunning second fastest lap in this morning’s FP3 to go straight to Q2, luck was not on his side in FP4. Yet, a technical issue and a crash couldn’t stop him from stepping up in Qualifying. The Portuguese did his fastest lap of the weekend of 1:32.009 in Q2 and missed out on the front row by only 0.335 seconds, ending up in P12.
During today’s Free practice sessions, the weather played a major role for Miguel Oliveira and Iker Lecuona. While FP1 this morning took place in wet conditions, the Le Mans circuit was drying out in the course of FP2, which made the lap times tumble quite significantly for the entire MotoGP field.
