With a very strong fifth place finish in his pocket from Misano and an eighth position in the overall standings of the MotoGP World Championship, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Miguel Oliveira arrives highly motivated at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The Portuguese star targets to further improve his feeling and his Qualifying performance in order to fight for another great result this weekend.

Yet, Iker Lecuona comes off from an impressive performance as well. After improving consistently and fighting for the top 6 during the race last Sunday, he aims to carry on his good work to the Gran Premi de Catalunya, which kicks off at 9.55 local time this Friday. The MotoGP rookie can’t wait to try his KTM RC16 for the very first time at the 4.727 kilometer track in Catalunya.

Miguel Oliveira

Championship: 8th

Points: 59

"I’m motivated to go to Barcelona. After the result we got in the second race in Misano, I think we can relax a little bit and then start working again in Montmeló. I think it’s a track that can fit well to our bike and also my style. I’m really keen to keep working like this and get an even better result than we got at the Emilia Romagna GP."

Iker Lecuona

Championship: 18th

Points: 15

"For the GP in Barcelona I think I need to keep this way. My performance was amazing, I improved a lot and I was always close to the top 10. In the race, I was even inside the top 6, so I want to continue this way, continue to improve, continue to learn. For sure, I will try to finish the race first, but I think it’s possible to think about the top 10 as a goal as well. We will have to see what we can do there."

Hervé Poncharal

Team Manager

"Back from a strong weekend in Misano, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team is very happy to move to Catalunya for the next round. We don’t have time to breath, but this is what we like. Three races back to back is an almost usual scenario for the 2020 season and we feel good with it. I believe the Montmeló circuit is going to be interesting for us. There is a long, long straight, hard braking zones, the back of the track is quite twisty, so it’s a bit of everything there and although we haven’t done any testing since last year’s Grand Prix, I think it’s going to be another interesting place to race. I think both, Miguel and Iker should be quite strong there. They like the circuit and we are eager to start racing there. We saw that the Superbike round was quite eventful regarding the weather, so I really hope this week it’s going to stay stable, because that could be something that is changing the whole game. Miguel is now eighth in the championship, everything is very, very close, but we are in a good position and clearly, there will be a bit of a break after Barcelona, so we need to keep on pushing, scoring good points and get out of Catalunya with still a good possibility of a strong position in the championship."
